No. 45
- Looks like a brick city row
house, but set back a little and given a porch.
I think this is no. 45.
This house measures about 23 feet
wide, according to the Sanborn map. (If you compare it
on the composite photo, it appears a bit narrower than
39 and 41.)
- [Sanborn map, c. 1901.]
- [Prototype view c. 2004 of nos. 45, 47, and 49.]
- [Broadside view of the front, c. 1990.]
- [Broadside view of this front, March '09.]
Side Views
- The white second story section is post-steam.
- The north side.
- The south side.
- [Photo c. June '09. The double window is the former spot where there was a bay window, according to the Sanborn. (Odd spot to put one.)]
Rear Views
- Don't have a rear photo of each individual building.
- [Panoramic view, c. 1973. Photo by Tony Steele.]
- [Backs from no. 43 north c. 1978.]
The Model
- The first step is making a mock-up, especially since we condensed
these a bit to fit better on the layout.
- [Mockups of the four chosen buildings, all a tad condensed, as of May '09.]
- The front wall was made 21 feet, 90% full size.
- The prototype block was 100 feet deep but only 80 on our
layout, so all the lenghtwise measurements were shrunk
proportionately:
- Main building, 33 feet deep becomes 26-1/2 feet.
- First addition, 22 feet deep becomes 17-1/2 feet.
- Second addition, 13 feet deep becomes 10-1/2 feet.
- Last addition, 15 feet deep becomes 12.
- The building is set back 14 feet from the front, which becomes 11 feet.
