Overview
- There were two full blocks of houses between
Manning Paper and Eagle Foundry. (We only have
room to model a few of these - our
space is just under a real foot or about 85 scale feet long.)
- [Sanborn map, c. 1951. Block to the north.]
- [Sanborn map, c. 1951. Block to the south. This is the block we are concentrating on.]
- [Prototype view looking north c. 1978, from the second house, no. 39.]
- [Prototype view looking north c. 2004, same angle.]
- [A composite of all the fronts, March '09.]
- [Mockups of the four chosen buildings, all a tad condensed, as of May '09. (And it's looking like the fourth house, on the far right, might also get the axe so the houses aren't so cramped.)]
Rear Views
- Don't have a rear photo of each individual building.
- [Rear view, c. 1973. Photo by Tony Steele. (I'm thinking this was the north block, because to the right on the photo, it looks like they are clearing out everything so they can put in the Rt. 7 overpass.)]
- [Another view, c. 1973. Photo by Tony Steele.]
- [Backs from no. 43 north c. 1978.]
No. 39
- This house and the one to the left, nos. 39 and 41, are both
typical two-story three-windows across worker-type housing, also
seen in south Troy and in Cohoes. This house measures about 22 feet
wide, according to the Sanborn map.
- [Broadside view of this front, March '09.]
No. 41
- This house and the one to the right, nos. 39 and 41, are both
typical two-story three-windows across worker-type housing, also
seen in south Troy and in Cohoes. This house measures about 23 feet
wide, according to the Sanborn map.
- [Broadside view of this front, March '09.]
No. 47
- This two story has also has an enclosed two story porch like
the first one. We probably won't be modeling this.
This house measures about 23 feet
wide, according to the Sanborn map.
- [Prototype view c. 2004 of nos. 45, 47, and 49.]
- [Broadside view of this front, March '09.]
No. 49
- This brick house has a lot of brackets. It is unique to see
a bracket rest on the lintel of a window, which suggests these
were an afterthough. This house measures about 21 feet
wide, according to the Sanborn map.
- [Prototype view c. 2004 of nos. 45, 47, and 49.]
- [Broadside view of this front, March '09.]
- [Mockups of the four chosen buildings, all a tad condensed and very cramped, as of May '09.]
