1934. But I think the 427000 series, built in 1940,
were the B&O's first "off-the-shelf" offset twins.
According to Chris Barkan, the B&O had about
14,000 offset twins by 1950, up to 20,000 by 1960,
basically one car out of every 80 for the
entire US fleet.
