- The yardmaster's tower was modeled
after the D&H's one at Mohawk yard, just
outside Schenectady, NY.
- [Prototype photo, c. 1931, from our NEB&W D&H Collection. Note the detail, such as the outhouse, the sort of garden area just beyond the tower, the parked cars, etc.]
- [Prototype photo looking from the other side, c. 1931, from our NEB&W D&H Collection. Check out the use of white stones to mark the grass area.]
- [Prototype photo, c. 1950 by Jim Shaughnessy.]
- [On
the layout, NEB&W switcher 106 pauses for instructions from the yardmaster. The
yardmaster's office was scratchbuilt by Geoff Hubbs. No. 106 was kitbashed from
a brass NYC switcher by Kyle Williams. Lou Sassi took the photo.]
- Looking east at the Whitehall yard, the terrain is very flat, almost
like a sea of grass of islands of trees.
- [Photo c. 1980's. (Sorry for the white spots on the print.)]
- [North Bennington landscape, 1990's. This is similar except the grass is mown.]
