Introduction to the Rensselaer Model Railroad Society's Website

Last Update: 2008-01-26

The Rensselaer Model Railroad Society is a student organization at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. We are building a model railroad layout based on historically accurate scenes in the Troy and north to the Canadian Border. The layout is set in 1950 when America's railroad system was still the backbone of the transportation network. Our website is an outgrowth of our interest in the real life prototypes and how to best model them. However, the knowledge on the website extends far beyond this region and era and far beyond the world of railroading. Most of the over 4,500 pages and 25,000 photos are only accessible to members of the website who are paid to date, either by a monthly on-going subscription system and single lump-sum payments.

To start with on this website, go to the Visitor's Gallery, which gives a brief explanation of each scene on the layout. Our Photo Gallery goes into much more depth.

However, while we try to share this information with you via this website, the layout is NOT open for visitation except under very limited conditions. (See the bottom of this page.)

If you want to contact us, use the link at the bottom every page to email us. DO NOT try to call us. There is no club phone number. Email yes, phone no!
