I've noticed that old pictures of Erie depots show the building covered with posters, including one at Marksboro, NJ on the Erie's subsidiary, the Susquehanna that had a poster that said "For Advertising Here or at other stations, . . . " (February '86 MM) In other words, they actively solicited advertising.- [Erie depot at Essex, NJ c. 1910, all postered up. And also note like the Marksboro one, a poster seeking posters.]
