Company traces its roots back to 1867 as a flour mill. In 1919, four Nebraska grain mills were merged as Nebraska Consolidated Mills. (Also see Nebraska Consolidated Mills.) In '42, they expanded outside the state and at some point, dropped the "Nebraska" from their name.
