Introduction

In the last decade of the 19th century, two counties (Essex and Clinton) in the Adirondacks supplied 23% of the nation's total iron output. This outpouring of ore was by the Chateaugay Iron & Ore Company. In 1934, the Delaware & Hudson RR wrote a book about the Company.
