State Line Tunnels
- Topographic map, c. 1959, showing the tunnel s are only a mile from the
NYS Thruway (Berkshire Spur). (Get off at the exit just before the Mass. border and
take Rt. 22 north 1.2 miles to Tunnel Hill Road. The road goes over the tunnel , but to
get to the west portal, continue up to Canaan Center to the grade crossing.)
- [Map.]
- C. 1900, there was only a single tunnel .
- [Postcard.]
- Due to increased traffic, a third track was needed, but apparently the
rock is so soft, a second bore a little distance away from the first one
was added.
- [Distance view c. winter 1973. The road that goes over the tunnel is visible on the right.]
- [Distance view c. summer 1982.]
- Up close.
- [Prototype view by Jim Shaughnessy c. 1950's. (Note the rockwork is slightly different in this view.]
- [Winter view by Geoff Hubbs c. 1972.]
- [Prototype view by Tony Steele c. 1973. The holes are rock bolts, as the rock is so soft and were added to stablize the face since the Shaughnessy photo. ]
- [Prototype view, I think also by Tony Steele, c. 1973.]
- [Summer 1982.]
- [Train time, summer '82.]

Reynolds
- Topographic map, c. 1949. Reynolds was on the B&M line
to Mechanicville.
- Greg Whittle discovered the prototype of the bridge, which as
of his photo, 1983, was still wood. We used it to disguise where the main line s
go through the backdrop.
- Jeff English caught a Conrail train at this site.
- Overview of Reynolds.
- Coming around the curve.
- [Model view.]
- [Another view.]
- Bridge over tracks.

- Two trains meet at Reynolds.
- [Model photo by Jeff English.]

- [Model view, digitally improved.]
- The prototype of the depot was the one at Niskayuna, NY.
(It was brick, but Bill Mischler translated it into wood.)
- [Gerrit Bruins photo, 1953 fan trip.]
- [Another Bruins photo from this same fan trip.]
- Lou Sassi took this photo of Reynolds for the March '97
cover of Main line Modeler. (If you have or know of a layout that
should get photographic coverage, e-mail him at
Lousassi@aol.com or
call (518) 399-5474.)
