Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe
- From 1905 through 1907, the Santa Fe got
7,000 36-foot fishbelly-side box cars, the first steel
underframe box cars on the road. They
were so overbuilt that surprisingly, they
lasted much longer than other wood cars built
subsequently, such as the USRA wood box cars.
(When built they were only rated at 35 tons.
Later many cars got 40-ton trucks taken
from the Bx-W,
