In trying to photograph real brick walls, I’ve become aware of how many walls are covered in ivy. I used to think this was an intended effect, like flowers in a garden that have to be tended. I now realize it is LACK of maintenance where you find ivy, it is a weed, and thus appropriate for the benign-neglected neighborhoods of Troy that we are modeling.
