Queen Anne was THE major influence on wood buildings from 1880 through 1900, although for railroad stations, the influence lasted until WWI. Depots could be built with a standard saddle-type roof, but my impression is that more Queen Anne depots had a hip roof. (And seeing a hip roof is one of the first clues I notice that the depot is Queen Anne.) The hip roof could be featureless, but one way architects personalized
